New levels and transitions in Ge-72 following the decay of Ga-72

AbstractThe decay of Ga-72 has been investigated by means of gamma-ray spectroscopy. The Ga-72 nuclei were produced through the Ga-71(n, gamma)Ga-72 reaction. The Compton-suppressed spectrometer and high-purity Ge detectors have been used singly and in coincidence, separately, to study gamma-rays in the beta(-) decay of Ga-72 to Ge-72. Ninety-three events of gamma-rays were reported, of which 7 were observed for the first time. A decay scheme of Ga-72 including 4 new levels is proposed which accommodates 87 of these transitions. Spins and parities for new levels are proposed from calculated log ft values, modes on the observed decay, and some nuclear reaction experimental results.
