AbstractThe current study on alpha-decays is reviewed and discussed. Emphasis is placed on the recently-discovered unfavored alpha-decays of the nucleus Bi-209 and of N=127 isotones. The unfavored alpha-decay half-lives of Bi-209 and of N=127 isotories are investigated with the alpha-cluster model. The cluster model can reproduce the experimental half-lives of Bi-209 and of N=127 isotones where the nuclear structure effect of the preformation factor of the alpha-cluster in the ground state of nuclei is taken into account. This is an interesting Uneralization of the cluster model of the favored alpha-decays to the unfavored alpha-decays.
